How SMP Blends FUE & FUT Scars Into the Surrounding Hair

Scar tissue behaves differently from normal skin. It’s smoother, often lighter, and can sometimes stretch or widen over time. Traditional tattoo ink doesn’t sit evenly in scar tissue, which is why standard body tattoos rarely look natural on scars. Our SMP technique solves this by using ultra-fine impressions and specialised pigment placement to replicate tiny follicles that sit on top and around the scar.

By matching the shade of your surrounding hair and layering the pigment gradually, the scar loses its contrast and becomes far less noticeable. Most clients say the difference is obvious from the very first session.

FUE Scar Camouflage (Dot Scarring)

FUE procedures often leave behind thousands of tiny circular scars across the donor area. These scars can create a “moth-eaten” look, especially when the hair is shaved short. SMP helps by filling the gaps, reducing contrast, and restoring the appearance of consistent density across the scalp. The result is a cleaner, more uniform look from every angle.

Our scar camouflage service is efficient and tailored:

  • Total sessions: 2 sessions

  • Session length: 1–2 hours each

  • Price guide: $1,000 to $2,000 total, depending on the size and visibility of the scar

  • Combined treatment: Discounts available if your scar treatment is performed alongside a full SMP density or hairline treatment.

Most clients only require the two sessions, although very old or raised scars may benefit from an optional touch-up in the future.

How Long the Results Last

Scar camouflage results are long-lasting and designed to fade naturally over the years. Because scar tissue absorbs pigment differently, longevity varies from person to person, but most people enjoy consistent results for several years before ever needing a refresh. The pigments we use will not turn blue, green, or spread under the skin.

Will SMP Fully Remove the Appearance of My Scar?

No treatment can physically remove a scar, but SMP dramatically reduces its visibility. Many clients see an improvement of 70–90%, depending on skin tone, scar thickness, and surrounding hair density. The goal is not perfection, it’s believability. Once blended, the scar no longer catches the eye and is extremely difficult to pick out in everyday lighting.
